Wins. Don't. Mean. shyt.

And he's been lucky as hell.

Longest active win streak in MLB ... and a TWO POINT EIGHT ONE era.

I can see if his era was over 3 or something. Just because he's a groundball pitcher and doesn't get tons of strikeouts he's not worthy huh? :beli:

And I want to know how he's lucky. Run support for him his last 5 games: 7, 5, 2, 3, 4. These aren't crazy high numbers (besides the 7), and in those games he gave up a combined 6 earned runs. Not like he's giving up 4 runs and the Cards are scoring 6. Like I said, most underrated pitcher in baseball currently.

Again, pitching wins don't fukking matter.

Sort of, yeah.

But he's definitely NOT a groundball pitcher my dude. His GB% is 40.5%....42nd of 50 qualified starters in the NL :heh:

He's lucky to have an ERA as low as it is. But to be fair, I'm actually against using that as a reason to discredit a pitcher's award qualifications.

That said, his ERA is 4th in the league...and by any legitimate measure all three of those ahead of him have had better season. dikkey, Kershaw and Cueto have all been much better pitchers this season. Never mind Gonzalez, Cain, Strasburg, Lee and Hamels.

I wouldn't say pitching wins don't matter. In the grand scheme of things they're far down the list of things I'd count since of course run support contributes a lot to wins. Hence why Felix Hernandez won the Cy Young a few years ago. I understand that. But if he finishes with only 2 or 3 losses? That's a nice number, even in today's game.

And Im definitely not saying he's deserving of the Cy Young above a few of those pitchers you mentioned. I AM saying that he's the most underrated out of all of those, and needs to be in the shortlist and conversation.

I'll also admit I misspoke when I said groundball, I meant that he pitches to contact, and relies on his defense. I think he has the highest contact rate for a pitcher in MLB... but batters ground out, pop out, they're not crushing him. There's an element of luck to that, I'll admit that. But he's ranked top 15 in walk rate, and top 30 in homerun rate. Dude is consistent.

There are a handful of NL pitchers who are doing extremely well so I don't even expect him to win. Just wanna see my hometown guy get recognition for what he's doing, you know?

He's having the most under-reported season...but I'd have a tough time saying he's underrated because he's not really this good. :manny:

But respect for understanding that pitching to contact requires luck to be this successful.

Dude, even bleacher report knows that wins don't matter.

Lee?

Cliff Lee? :mindblown:

Lohse is certainly more deserving than him. So are Chapman and Kimbrel.

I really respect your baseball opinion so I'm going to assume you mistyped or you have some reason I don't know about for even mentioning Cliff Lee while discussing the 2012 Cy Young Award.

The shut down Strasberg, can't believe they actually went through with it. If I'm Strasburg I would understand why they did it but I would be pissed right now. We're going to the post season and I'm a big part of it and now I gotta sit. Hopefully this pays off for the Nats because we all know how small the window in Baseball can be.

THEY didn't do a muthafukkin thing. This is all Scott Boras. He really does run that team. It will be interesting to see the fan reaction and organization reaction if they go down 3-1 in the NLCS ire some shyt.
