More Khris Middleton than Kawhi. Still good but I don’t see that peak for him.

Kawhi's first 4 seasons was 2011-2015. Did you see the heights Kawhi reached, coming for him within those 4 years?

Mikal is in Y5. Kawhi's Y5 was 2016. We ALL know 2016 is not the best version of Kawhi we've seen. He hadn't hit his absolute peak yet in 2016. So are you of the opinion that what we're seeing from Mikal currently is as good as he can be? In '16 were you convinced that was the best version of Kawhi you'd see?

Why do you keep asking people if they saw that leap coming from Kawhi? You're making this thread AFTER seeing Bridges doing what he's doing. You're not exactly going out on a limb or calling this breakout ahead of time. either

I'm telling people in Y5 I see an All-NBA leap coming, which is ahead of the curve because most heads in here say they don't...

And I keep asking folk about Kawhi because dudes keep saying they don't see it with Bridges. So did yall see it with Kawhi? Of course not. Even when Kawhi made his leap in Y5 (just like Mikal currently in Y5), nobody in 2016 was calling homie a "lock Hall Of Famer"...

We not saying that about Mikal now. Even though we see an obvious leap in front of us, and I'm saying there's another level he's gonna hit...

I’ve definitely been impressed in the players the Nets got back for 7/11. Mikal Bridges has all star capability now in his future with Brooklyn I’ve always been a fan of his in phoenix. He’s a little bit longer than Devin Booker and is a better defender, but like DBook, he can’t carry a team by himself, I don’t see him reaching that Kawhi, KD, Harden with the Rockets tier, elite wings. His career arch is more in line with DeMar DeRozen how he developed with the Raptors and became a star for them. Mikal Bridges pretty much is who he is going on 27 years old, but if he can continue to keep up his excellent play with the increased usage rate and the Nets put a couple nice pieces around him he can definitely be that cornerstone piece to potentially be on a championship contending team as a main contributor. It’s really up to how Sean Marks manages all these players & draft picks to bring in a costar for Mikal Bridges.

Timing has nothing to do with my assessment.

I see Bridges as a Middleton-level player with similar build and skillset. That's pretty good. Wouldn't be surprised to see him have a 23-25ppg season next year.

I do not see him becoming the lockdown D/30ppg player Kawhi was at his peak. That's an extremely rare occurence.

If he does get that far, I have no problem admitting I was wrong.

Kawhi was a few years younger. You can't forget that either.

Fair enough!

I wanna reiterate, I never said he'd reach the heights Kawhi reached. I just defined the early career similarities and how I believe Mikal is turning into an elite, All-NBA, Top 15-ish type player...

I never said he'd be as great as Kawhi but the late bloomer parallel is eerily similar...

If I'm wrong I'll admit mine too!

The Truth
Been extremely impressed with his play recently. I don’t know if it’s Kawhi-esque. Kawhis breakout was during the playoffs the last year the Spurs won and Greg Pop had to beg Kawhi to even shoot
