I mean, they are a bit different.

In the Cowboys case, the police had charges on her for filing a false report less than two weeks after her accusations came out and she was all out there apologizing to the players and stuff. There was a lot of bad press for a few days but otherwise not much happened, it was all exposed too quick. Irvin and Williams never even had charges filed on them.

In the Duke Lacrosse case, Duke suspended the entire team, their coach had to resign, the remainder of the season got cancelled, the three boys were arrested, the D.A. hid evidence that showed they were innocent, and it was more than a year before the charges were dropped.
