His character is more complex then that. He is like Azazel from Fallen. He is possessed by the devil. You don't see how he is speaking and codes and what not. He even speaking in tongues in one of his vignettes.

I see that alot mire than I see Max Cady as of right now. Im one of the few that wasnt able to watch the new nxt shyt so Im just now gettig hip to the Wyatt Family illness. His promo game is top notch, normally this stuff comes off Indy as fukk to me but with this promo and the Ambrose MITB promos....great mic work is gonna be deeper than CM Punk and Heyman

U need to watch Fallen from 1998. The Devil's them song is Time is on my Side. Bray's promo's sound just like the Devil's soliloquies.

He's a false prophet/cult leader/messianic figure.
fukk Hollywood in terms of just straight up pro wrestling gimmicks that correlate with Wyatt to me it stems from Bugsy McGraw (old head who I just found out about) & Waylon Mercy with some Raven flock-like shyt all with the "dark" character meter turnt up.
As far as NXT goes your straight. He is for the most part being repackaged the same exactly way on WWE TV. So your right on track bruh. Everything is on-point for dude to have a bright future in the game as long as he or Coke Boy don't fukk shyt up.

There are definitely some religious undertones but I'm not sure I would say it's outright Satanic. Either way it's interesting as hell... Great vignettes, great entrance, great promos and his offense looks good..
We'll continue to see more of these well thought out characters as Haitch gains more control over creative..
I think dude's promos are going to go over the heads of a lot of people. He's basically a modern day Mankind

They ain't gonna go too much further with that in the PG era. When they rolled up on R Truth I was expecting a lot more than what he got. It kinda felt like they held back possibly for the image it might stir up of these 3 southern country boys beating the hell out of a black man. I could be reading too much into that though.
It's because there aren't any to be seen.
Two things that sold me on that promo:
Shutting down WHAT? live while talking...notice how the crowd can't get a unified What? chant after a while once Bray starts speaking a bit faster and laughing in between sentences. excellent read on the crowd by Bray. Compared to Mark Henry who does try to combat them but gets Sexual Chocolate chants even harder or even most wrestlers on the roster who pause after every couple of sentences. Punk, Heyman, Cena, Rock, etc. are rarely doused with the chants because they vary in tone and their voices are commanding.
Someone posted it somewhere else but rewatch the promo as if he's recruiting/talking to Kane. Creepy.

i dont see the Max Cady comparison, other than the fact that he's from the south and Max Cady had a swagged out wardrobe. Cady is an ex-con hellbent on revenge, Wyatt is more of a cult leader gimmick, hes more Jim Jones than Max Cady

I don't see the Cady stuff as much either, the truth is Waylon Mercy was based off Cady and this character reminds folks of Waylon so they're making that Cady connection.
To me it's simple, he is a backwoods redneck cult leader. He is more Raven than he is the devil, the devil shyt is dumb as fukk honestly.
Yeah, religious undertones but that doesn't imply the devil at all.
Most cult leaders are religious figures to their followers.
