Texas runs like a small country but this wouldn't play out like like this representative and others think.
A lot people would move around not protected by the constitution of the USA and the government regulations would be different and that would probably make businesses move around too.
Texas is a big nice state...... Well the eastern portion of it, but they get a bit arrogant with it. It's their time now but that ish seems to go in cycles. Decades ago it was Detroit, Cleveland, and places like that with those blue collar manufacturing jobs that paid well for there day.
Due to the lax tax laws including no state income tax make Texas more favorable for businesses, but just like other places their time will come and go to more than likely as well.

Although the resources texas has are important to the union fukk it let them go.

Texas would lose all federal funding and their government would function even worse than it does now.
All business would pull out of the state, leading to 3rd world country levels of unemployement.
They would be begging to be let back into the country.
Other Republican citizens would be pissed because this would guarantee control of the White House for Democrats forever.
DC would likely be added as a state to replace them, resulting in a net of +4 Democratic Senators.
