The demand for Texans to be allowed to vote on the issue in 2023 was one of many measures adopted in the Texas GOP's party platform following last week's state convention in Houston.

The Texas GOP's new party platform also called for full repeal of the Voting Rights Act of 1965.

This isn't just a handful of goofy cacs. Adopting these measures into the party platform means the GOP as a whole in Texas has agreed that these are policies that they support and theoretically would pursue.

No, it doesn't mean every Republican voter in Texas would support these policies (though I'd bet a whole lot would). But it does mean that this is what the party wants to happen.
