The demand for Texans to be allowed to vote on the issue in 2023 was one of many measures adopted in the Texas GOP's party platform following last week's state convention in Houston.

Under a section titled "State Sovereignty," the platform states: "Pursuant to Article 1, Section 1, of the Texas Constitution, the federal government has impaired our right of local self-government. Therefore, federally mandated legislation that infringes upon the 10th Amendment rights of Texas should be ignored, opposed, refused, and nullified.

"Texas retains the right to secede from the United States, and the Texas Legislature should be called upon to pass a referendum consistent thereto."

The Texas GOP's new party platform also called for full repeal of the Voting Rights Act of 1965.

Both sides folks.

Let them go. Honestly at this point, if these republican states want to just turn back into white supremacist enclaves let them go. They can try and negotiate deals on the world stage on their own. Good luck accessing resources from Africa or China if you hate them. Good luck trying to do business with countries who have multicultural populations. They don't get federal military protection either. So if terrorists attack them, they on their own. Fed should take out all military hardware in there too, relocate the staff to another base. The black people living in Florida and Texas should move north or go to Georgia and strengthen our numbers there.

I'm tired of the bullshyt. All the cacs can go over there if they hate us so much even tho we make up less than 20% of the population. White supremacy is dependent on enemies to survive. They always end up turning on themselves because they define themselves by what they aren't instead of what they are. Soon they'll go after anyone whose hair is too wavy or skin isn't pale enough. Then eventually anyone who didn't descend from the British or germans, then they'll keep killing eachother until only a few of them are left. White supremacy is an intrinsically destructive world view. It doesn't create anything, it only wastes lives, money and resources on bullshyt.

This would be disastrous for them and war would def happen within that state because black folks there will not take a ride back to slavery. The feds would back outsters of an independent Texas republic to bring them back into the fold.

All due respect breh, this really isn’t something that should be casually brushed off. This isn’t just a collection of random disgruntled cacs complaining about fantasies that everyone else thinks is crazy. It’s the Texas Republican Party saying this. It’s the Texas branch of the GOP saying secession and fully repealing the Voting Rights Act of 1965 are amongst their policy goals.

That last part should make anyone who’s in a minority group in Texas alarmed. The Texas GOP are openly saying one of their goals is to make it so they can freely restrict who can and can’t vote. And we should all know who they'd rather not have voting :mjpls:

I wish all MAGA cacs could to relocate to Florida and Texas. Both states will be destroyed by climate change. Since they think its a hoax I'm sure it wont matter to them.

But in all serious this is quite concerning and sign of where these radical right wingers want to take the country. This isn't normal conservatism. This is fascism plain and simple. I'm not sure how many more signs both side brehs need to determine that - yes, Republicans are an existential threatn
