As many black voters as there are in Texas how did they let this happen?
Most people in America, especially black people, are not actively involved in their kids' education. Americans are generally ignorant (devoid of knowledge). Voting and not reviewing policies. How many parents review homework, attend PTA meetings let along a school board meeting?

The passage from the book is accurate though. The first Negros brought to Jamestown were from the Iberian Peninsula (Spain and Portugal), before the slave enterprise expanded to Africa, and were indentured servants (immigrant workers) like Anglo Europeans. Many were skilled artisans and bilingual due to years of Moorish influence on the area that was torn apart with the Alahmbra Decree of 1492 when Spain was reconquested by "Christians", Catholic Monarchs, (Anglos) and mass expulsion of Moors/Muslims, and Jews (Europe was once diverse and multicultural republic, as society should, instead of the old castles (forts to loot ships) and churches seen today). They were conquered and disenfranchised buppies without a home. Gradual changes in colonial legislation led to Negros being placed into chattel slavery and the children born from slaves took the status of the mother. Also laws were passed to forbid them from acquiring land, owning livestock, literacy, legal marriage with other slaves, or blacks marrying outside their designated race, obtaining political power to maintain the structure of the day. Lets not even talk about some blacks who are classified as Black who were/are in America prior to Euro discovery.

If the book provides other chapters on colonial agribusiness and commerce and not delve into slavery then I would be upset or even the honorable mention of the importance native american almanacs. I always tell the youth that you are not descendants of slaves but people placed into a slave system. We have to remember that those Europeans that came were persecuted and escaping systems of the Catholic Monarchy. Europeans enslaved other Europeans and in turn implemented these Draconian systems to the world. It is hard to study history prior to the late 13-1400s.

She is a good parent that she reviews what is being taught to her child and ultimately she is responsible for correcting any inaccuracies as she is the first teacher and contacting the principle and school system superintendent.

Sorry for the gobs of typos
