How can you be sure of this?

In the state where it happened, restrictions were tightened.

Mass shootings in Connecticut have gone down. It is up to the people in each state to be serious about whether they're okay with their kids being killed. The average Texas cac seems to be a fukking idiot so maybe they DO need to see the aftermath of mass shootings before they give a shyt.
Of course Texas cacs are idiots. We’re talking a state that has the only city in the nation with a population of over 400,000 and no public transportation:mjlol:

The thing is not everyone is on the same page about the solutions. You show dead kids every night some people will want more guns some people will want to get rid of guns.

Showing the deaths would be part of a multipronged attack on the prevalence of guns in the US. Political pressure is another one of those prongs. Where does political pressure come from? People. People who now see people just like them except they are dead. Those people will put pressure on the politicians or vote them out.

Synergy. :ohlawd:

I wanted the video so I could post it for other people who keep denying that gun culture is harmful.

Kick rocks, heffa. :camby:
Rare that you have good takes, but this is one of ur best ones yet. These video should be shown to everyone. It’s the only way to convince people how harmful our gun culture is. I want those pictures posted on the front page of the New York Times.

Y’all like this gun culture? Cool, here’s the consequences of it

If you believe this then you don’t personally need to see it, you’re not the person who needs to be convinced of the devastation of these events. You just sound like a voyeur.

Or bearing witness. When George Floyd was murdered I watched in once. Once. Because I had to at least have borne witness to what at the very least can be described as a national tragedy. The next time I saw the videos of his murder was during the trial which I was compelled to watch.

If there is video of a mass shooting or any kind of calamity I will probably watch it, if for no other reason than to have a better understanding of the event. If I have a photo of a random animal would it be easier for me to hand you the photo or take time to explain the animal to you? I'm not trying to come off as callous because this all pains me very much. I'm just saying there are other reasons than voyeurism to watch but I get what you are saying as well.

I agree. Normally I think you're half-retarded, but we agree on this. The front page of the NY Times, the Washington Post and should be shown at the top of the hour on every cable news station.

The outcry would be huge if Biden held a speech and just started showing kids blown up. Unfortunately, we're actually having to negotiate with terrorists just to run the damn country. I see Republicans as nothing less than that.

A lot of the white shooters have manifestos, social media histories, ties to right wing groups etc that clearly point to political/social motivations for their crimes. Thus they are textbook terrorists.

The meme is very true because when these white shootings occur the first action by many politicians/media is humanize the perp by jumping directly to “they are mentally ill” instead of asking about their motivations.
Exactly, the right has already labeled the shooter as a gang related terrorist

people took the syrian war seriously when that dead boy's body was washed up on a british beach because he and his family were trying desperately to escape

if you show people the toll of this gun violence, they will care more. as of right now, these lives lost are just numbers to the masses.

think about it from the black american perspective. none of the major protests and movements would happen if we didnt see footage of innocent black people murdered by cops

gun violence needs to be visceral and real for the people outside of the victims' families
This is why voting matters the only way mass changes happen is a democratic supermajority. We have to get all these old heads wanting to work with rethugs out the way.

And this is exactly what I did. I watched it once. For one thing, I owe it to those people who lost their lives to not turn away and pretend it didn't happen. Seeing that video (and it was hard to watch) seared it into my memory. I'm never going to forget that, whereas most of these shootings happen so often that I can't keep up with them. That video of that dead baby makes it where I won't forget it, the same as when I watched the video of the Vegas mass shooting victims. We owe it to these people to never forget them, as we are a part of the society that made it possible for this to happen.

Everyone should see it at least once.
