I don't know how true it is but one thing I read is that the flat panels may have been designed as such to keep the cost of the car down. Those specs for $40k is pretty dope.

You're right in that the coefficient of static friction is generally higher than the coefficient of kinetic friction between two surfaces but I'm not sure that would've made a difference here.

In a "fair fight", I would expect the electric-motor tesla to walk away with this almost as easily.
