that's literally what the autopilot option is. If your hand is off the wheel more than 10 seconds, it makes you nudge it to make sure you are there. That's what he's doing to keep the autopilot on.

He's not using the full self driving option.

it picks that up as it approaches it and gets closer. Car will slow down. It won't change lanes though. Autopilot doesn't do that.
