Well if people really believe that islamists are only arabs and only hate America, well they're just stupid. If you're too lazy to read a newspaper and see that Islamists in Afghanistan/Pakistan/Nigeria/Indonesia are NOT ethnic arabs and that Islamists hate not only America, but also Europe and even more so local moderates, that's on them, how long are we gonna blame "the media" for people's ignorance.
Islamists are a small group who are fronts for Saudi Arabia's Wahabbism. They mixed Ideology in with the brutal tribes of a country( before Islam even was there) that don't conform to modern society and try to force it on those who choose to leave that era. When Americans read the newspaper or watch the news...they see pics of Arabs or those who resemble them. Most Americans can't tell the difference between Persian and Arab, Armenian and Arab or Kurd and Arab. The Media doesn't give them enough details on groups except for "They want to kill you".
Anyway, the article is seriously lacking, because it extrapolates from the fact that some of the terrorists are "french", "canadians", have "an english accent", "spoke like they were from England", had a "North American accent"...well welcome to this complex world in which we live, in which some french nationals are arabs (remember Merah?), and some islamists grow up in London, so of course they'll have that accent...at least in France we know damn well that white people (since that's what we're talking about) have been converting to Islam/radical Islam, you see them every other day in the subway...people don't know that Bosniacs are white muslims?
It isn't complex knowing how history has worked for those who know how to divide and conquer. The French Colony was a terrorist to Africa so why wouldn't they try to recolonize the countries to their own interests. Who benefits more....some small so called terrorist group with no army, no sovereign estate, no real influence to other nations, no real power, no planes, no tanks, no nukes and no U.N. Power or France who has all that?
Experts say those who create war create the illusion of it. That means France can do the same Problem Reaction Solution as the rest of the Western Powers. They have spies and plotted bombing and massacres. Why can't they use French and British agents to make it look like there are AL-Q in Mali.
To prove my point in your view about Islamists being Arab and born in Europe show exactly the same narrative as the Media. Sadly Merah wasn't even affiliated with any group. He worked for French Intelligence as a snitch. He was patsy...nothing more.
fake terrrorists, well maybe, but Western powers have been financing/training terrorists/rebels/resistance groups for ages now, nothing to be surprised about, but I don't think this is the case in this particular situation. I don't really see what Western powers are going to gain from this, it's not like they weren't heavily present in Mali before. And only Algerian forces acted in Algeria.
When you have a country with rich resources...Those who have power and influence create tensions with other weaker nations who have problems internally with their leaders, tribes, etc. Actually French have been in Mali for a long time and the U.S. has been there in 2005. Influence is there. Resources is there.
