Tekken got away with it before unlike Street Fighter when they killed off Kazuya and created a new generation of fighters in Tekken 3. Tekken 3 was successful because the new characters were innovative and weren't cheap knock offs of replaced characters. Namco also kept the most popular characters from Tekken 2 around and aged them. Street Fighter 3 threw all the characters from 2 into the bushes and made knock offs like Remy, Necro, Twelve, etc, and tried to make a wrestler the main character.

Namco will definitely keep the most popular characters around and have the others show up in endings as mentors, trainers, etc.

If Namco was smart, they would reveal all of Heihachi's b*stard children and have their own fighting styles. IF you get rid of Heihachi, at least make his seeds with different fighting styles stay around.

Virtua Fighter probably has the most boring character cast in any successful fighting games. And they had to make the one black character Jeffry a semi retarded Sambo

Totally agree. I never understood the hype behind Virtua Fighter. Characters moved like they were wearing armor, then were able to leap a thousand feet in the air with zero gravity, game was all kinds of boring

I gotta say I'm a bit disappointed here, i know is on cam but the graphics are last gen status and the gameplay looks to be the same since tekken 4...

When Tekken 6 showed off its first demo, it looked barely above PS2 graphics.

Hopefully Tekken 7 tones down on juggling and revamp its roster. I want it to be a Tekken 3-like vibe where you saw a bunch of new fighters with (actual) fighting styles around the world.

I agree...

Coming from tekken 2 to tekken 3 was crazy, so many new styles and new innovations on the same style(Baek,Hwaraong)

I don't remember the juggling being as crazy is it is now in 3, which to me was the pinnacle.

That is what Tekken 7 needs. A bunch of new, interesting fighters that can carry the franchise (if) the end of the Mishimas are near. We also need to tone down juggles and focus more on ground combos.

What makes it interesting is that Jin really is dead :patrice:

Also, I love time release characters of Tekken 1-5. Adds replayability.

Add new modes similar to Tekken Ball, Bowl, Tekken Force, and the like.

they been saying its only at 50% of its graphical capability. they just throwing it out there for feedback on the mechanics

so I ain't really disappointed in that or the new additions and subtractions to the gameplay - its the fact that the movement hasn't changed. the lack of effective sidestepping, and that weird unnatural looking korean backdashing shyt is still there from what I saw. that's the one thing that needs an overhaul.

they said they wanted to simplify the game, just give everyone a good regular everyday backdash like every other fighting game and take the sidestep/punish system from Soul Calibur V and I'm happy
