I just cant support this any longer. WE know he not the answer and he has shown that. There is no reason to persist.
this is the first year in a long time i had zero reason to see them play

and i just dug out my bullets pennant signed by michael adams and calbert cheaney so i've seen some really bad times

thats why this feels weird

I watched Chris Whitney run point guard for them. I remember Mitchell Butler and Ledell Eckles. Doug Overton. The Webber for Richmond trade. Ths is all in my lifetime, yet THIS feels like the breaking point.

Goddamn, you guys are sounding like Lions fans in here. Nothing is gonna change as long as Leonsis is the owner. Same thing with the Lions and the Ford family. :mjcry:

cant agree

he got the Caps rolling right now. He just dont like making tough decisions and I really do question his business acumen.

Abe Pollin was the one who I had no hope in and was waiting to die.

if i only i had known what gifts the city of miami had given me. we snatched defeat from the jaws of victory that year

Thing with Ted is, he's not stupid or incompetent. He has the Capitals running like a 1st class organization. It also helps to have a perennial MVP candidate in Ovechkin. But they've got a lot of talent and why did that happen? Leonsis actually fired his long time GM McPhee and got in a better GM who in turn hired a much better coach. That's why this year's Caps actually look like a title contender.

Why he doesn't do the same approach with the Wizards is very telling. It's obvious he doesn't care as much even though he goes to every home game. He hasn't changed hands in the front office and the only coaching change was firing Flip (:wow:) and having :wittless: take over in 2012.

In my view, since Ted took over the majority ownership of the team the best times to clean house were

2010 right after we drafted John Wall

OR 2012 when Flip was fired. Grunfeld should have been let go right there and then.

Abe Polin like @mastermind said ran the Bullets like it was a regular mom and pop show... sure, it got him one ring... in the 1970s but the times changed and he didn't change with it. Having Wes Unseld run the show for so long was TERRIBLE for management.

Speaking of incompetence. The only Larry O'Brien trophy this franchise has was sitting buried in someone's basement for YEARS and Leonsis had to basically find it and rehabilate the trophy to put it on display at Verizon Center after he bought the team. :mindblown:

The only NBA Championship Trophy... not even in the arena! :why:

The amazing story of the franchise's misplaced Larry O'Brien Championship Trophy was recounted in Thursday's Washington Post in a story by Dave Sheinin about the 35th anniversary of the team's only NBA title.

When current owner Ted Leonsis took control of the Wizards in 2010, he inquired as to the whereabouts of the trophy. No one knew, Sheinin writes.

Someone recalled someone else saying sometime awhile back that Smokey Bowie, the late building manager/head engineer/jack-of-all-trades who had been with the franchise since the old Capital Centre days until passing away a few years ago, had at some point taken [the trophy] home with him for safekeeping. And sure enough, a carload of team employees dispatched to Bowie's old house found the trophy — scuffed up, tarnished and dented — at the bottom of a closet. "They bring it in," Leonsis recalled this week, "and it's got dings in it, it's matted, not shiny. My wife [Lynn] is best friends with the woman who runs Tiffany's in Tysons Corner, so I asked her to look at it, and I said, 'Look at this – this is what we spend a billion dollars over our lifetime to try to win, and it's been sitting in someone's closet. Can you fix it?' It took about three months, but it came back perfect."

That may be the first time something improved after joining the Leonsis Wizards.

imma correct this

Ted fired a long time GM and hired that longtime GM's assistant GM as the new GM. Granted that new GM hired a top notch coach, but you can exclude that from the formula.

This is why I dont have unwavering faith in Ted.

Ted got lucky there.

So, no playoffs and no draft pick unless they somehow end up in the top 3 of the lottery.

Another year, another miserable season for DC's professional basketball team.

This is the 29th season out of the last 34 that the Wizards/Bullets haven't gotten 43+ wins.

Ernie Grunfeld is still the GM. How can this franchise improve without Ted Leonsis changing the FRONT OFFICE? A front office that for the last 13 years is mainly the same and consistently botches draft picks and managing of cap space by giving marginal players raises above their abilities?

Who else has been GM as long Grunfeld?

Mitch Kupchak in LAL
R.C. Buford in SAS
Pat Riley in MIA
Danny Ainge in BOS

And they all have RINGS... most of them multiple! Of course they should be GMs that long!

The whole roster will be empty with the exception of

John Wall
Otto Porter
Kelly Oubre
Marcin Gortat
Markieff Morris

Bradley Beal will get the Restricted Free Agent tender of $7.5M. I'd love a new front office have to deal with that situation and look at this kid for what he really is. AVERAGE. He is not even close to All-Star level.

We'll have $45M of committed salary. Martell Webster's $2.5M is still included in the books (thanks Grunfeld).

These are the salaries of Washington Wizards players this season

What free agents are coming to this mess? Wittless :wittless: is for sure gone but why are we celebrating that if GRUNFELD IS THE ONE DOING THE FIRING? He KEEPS SAVING HIS ASS AND NEVER IS ACCOUNTABLE.

Leonsis has been the majority owner for 6 years. He flat out doesn't care. And it shows with the team being in the bottom of the league in management routinely.

shyt is disgraceful......

I have been to about 10 games this year...and from game to game...the team changes interest level and intensity ...the coach is the worse in game manager in the league...does nto draw up plays and we have to much filler on the team...

the only player really working out there out side of Wall and Gortat...is Sessions...

my favorite thing at the games is watching G-Wiz dance

I don't even think we'll get KD now unless some major off season changes happens.

I guess that's the positive that they'll have to do stuff to lure him but still...

And yall sweeped my team last year.

I was never wowed by Beal when I watched him play but is he really average? I always heard how him and Wall will be the backcourt for the next 10 years.

Oubre didn't get much playing time this year (should've stayed at Kansas). How did he look? What's his ceiling?

Beal is very average. He will have good games but follow it up with 5-17 FG shooting nights. His handle is still shaky, he turns it over in bunches sometimes and his free throw shooting is terrible for a supposed budding star

He's not worth the contract someone will throw at him. Since he's still very young he's gonna get paid for what he might become at age 25 or 26.

He needs a new coach and scheme, badly.

Oubre needs to work on his handles, passing and defending without fouling. I think he can be a solid 3 and D next year. He needs minutes. I can't judge the kid yet.

In SOME aspects Beal sounds like Derozan

It's like the Caps are Ted's baby, much like the Bullets/Wizards were Abe Pollin's baby and it's like the Wizards are Ted's side hustle much like the Caps were Abe's side hustle. I'm happy that Ted will spend whereas Abe was a cheap b*stard, but we need someone in charge (a competent GM) who has a clue of what they're doing. I'm almost certain that we're going to pay Beal the max amount he can get so as to not let him walk away in free agency. Thing is, Beal is injury prone, but the team plays better with him, so go figure.
