So, no playoffs and no draft pick unless they somehow end up in the top 3 of the lottery.

Another year, another miserable season for DC's professional basketball team.

This is the 29th season out of the last 34 that the Wizards/Bullets haven't gotten 43+ wins.

Ernie Grunfeld is still the GM. How can this franchise improve without Ted Leonsis changing the FRONT OFFICE? A front office that for the last 13 years is mainly the same and consistently botches draft picks and managing of cap space by giving marginal players raises above their abilities?

Who else has been GM as long Grunfeld?

Mitch Kupchak in LAL
R.C. Buford in SAS
Pat Riley in MIA
Danny Ainge in BOS

And they all have RINGS... most of them multiple! Of course they should be GMs that long!

The whole roster will be empty with the exception of

John Wall
Otto Porter
Kelly Oubre
Marcin Gortat
Markieff Morris

Bradley Beal will get the Restricted Free Agent tender of $7.5M. I'd love a new front office have to deal with that situation and look at this kid for what he really is. AVERAGE. He is not even close to All-Star level.

We'll have $45M of committed salary. Martell Webster's $2.5M is still included in the books (thanks Grunfeld).

These are the salaries of Washington Wizards players this season

What free agents are coming to this mess? Wittless :wittless: is for sure gone but why are we celebrating that if GRUNFELD IS THE ONE DOING THE FIRING? He KEEPS SAVING HIS ASS AND NEVER IS ACCOUNTABLE.

Leonsis has been the majority owner for 6 years. He flat out doesn't care. And it shows with the team being in the bottom of the league in management routinely.

The East was terrible. The only reason they won 43 and 46 games was because of that.

They also got favorable 1st round matchups. The Bulls in 2014 had injuries and lack of scoring depth. The Raptors last year had their best player in Lowry injured and overweight with Derozan shrinking in the moment by being locked down by Otto Porter... Paul Pierce also got in their heads.

A much more competitive conference this year shows how abyssmal the management of Grunfeld has been. He routinely trades picks to clean up past mistakes.

Markieff Morris is the latest example. He would have been a much better 1st round pick in 2011 instead of Jan Vesely.

Fast forward to 2016. We have no young PF on the roster. So what does Grunfeld do? Clean up a past mistake by using a valuable future asset (2016 1st) to trade for a guy who would have been a way better pick 5 years ago.

And that 2016 1st rounder would be on a rookie scale for 4 years. If you hit on that pick, do you know how valuable it will be to have a kid on that type of contract with a huge cap?

Unless Leonis is too concerned about the Caps, or Grunfeld has something incriminating over Ted, first move would be to fire Ernie and get rid of Whitman while we're at it. Get a GM who has a clue in place before the draft and hope that the ping pong balls fall in our favor.

A lot of ways, I feel bad for Wittman. He shoulda been gone a few years ago and he had his offense changed.

Grunfeld shoulda been gone long ago but it seems like he will always be here.

Im out until Grunfeld is gone. (unless we hire Thibs)

I want Whitman to stay. His an amazing coach and one of the greatest coaches ever in the playoffs

EG isn't going anywhere. Ted wouldn't have let him put for two years just to fire him before the KD free agency (his not coming here). I would have no problem with letting EG stay UNLESS!!!!! They hire someone else to run the draft. EG can trade his ass off that is why

front office failed to make any significant moves in the offseason while everyone else in the east improved, on top of the injury bug hitting us hard....I said at the beginning of the season this team would struggle to win 42-44 games at the most......markieff pick up was cool but to far in the season and simply not enough.....while he has his flaws as a coach but i will hate to see whitman go cause he's a good dude who had the confidence of the players and none of this was his fault....leonsis is to blinded and seems to always want to go against the media, at this point its a low probability grunfield gets the boot.:to:.....

edit- @FAH1223 wtf man i had no clue they gave up a 1st rd for markieff:snoop:

i agree

franchise is WOAT contender, i think there's a blood oath of wizards owners to stay loyal to incompetent execs. makes no goddamn sense. i'd rather have a revolving door than this shyt

Grunfeld didn't make any moves in hopes of luring Durant home (he ain't coming to DC unless a miracle occurs) and now that came back to bite us in the ass; well, that and the injuries. Grunfeld ain't going anywhere sadly. It's almost like how Pollin was loyal to Wes because Wes won Abe that NBA title in 78 even though Unseld knew jack shyt about being a GM. Like I said, I think Ted is too preoccupied with the Caps and hoping they don't do their normal choke job in the Stanley Cup playoffs to be worried about what a craptacular job Ernie's doing.
