i dont really know if we are worse off, it certainly does seem like cacery is at a highpoint not seen since the 1980s, though.

tavis is not explicitly wrong in many things he says, it's just that at this point i feel both he and cornel have a personal axe to grind and are promoting themselves. i get the feeling that if they had been embraced the way sharpton and MSNBC have been embraced, they would be quiet about this, but i cant prove that so more power to them.

obama is a decent manager of the american franchise. his personal management style is to not do anything so big and so stupid that you cant fix it fairly quickly, and so far i would say he has succeeded at that. he only had one bold policy he pushed through (ACA) and that is an achievement worth being proud about even though it does not go as far as some want. on race issues, to borrow terminology from eric holder, obama is a coward, point blank. most of the time he is mum on cacery or reforming immigration and quite vocal about black people's failings. his program for minority boys is a drop in the damn bucket in terms of scope, and he always feels the need to draw false equivalencies between black and white grievances. he has done nothing to address the economic and criminal justice problems plaguing specifically us. he has slowly improved the economy, but that always goes to white people first if you dont do something specifically to address that. dude is useless if you only vote for racial advocacy. in my opinion he is better than the alternative on every other issue, so it is what it is.

Folks got so blinded by the "idea" of Obama and what they thought it would represent which is Fairness and Equality and that Blacks Can Make it. Problem is Obama does not come from an African American background.

I don't argue or feel anything for him or Tavis. All I can say is that Tavis has been consistent with what hes been saying and he's absolutely right.
Tavis would never be president for this reason. He's the president of ALL people. And as the first one, he has fine line to play.

You can't play the "this is what I would do" game.

Hold up.

Read this, then take back your "cowardice" comments towards barack on the topic of race.

its well known Holder speaks for Obama in this realm:

Dunno if I agree, I guess it would depend on what you mean by "fell behind".

Not much has really changed economically or in terms of crime that can be attributed to anything Obama has done. The socioeconomic situation that black people (overall) are in was bad before Obama was in office and will be bad long after he leaves. Race relations probably got worse, but you can't really blame Obama for older white people being insecure/paranoid about a black president and blaming blacks for their problems because Rush Limbaugh said to. In fact Obama goes far out of his way to avoid offending them and they hate him anyway.

That said, I think that when it's all said and done, the ACA will be a net positive.

Not that I believe this is Obama's fault or that he could have realistically done much to change things at a level that would matter but if you do a little research and compare numbers then Tavis is right...things for black people have gotten worse under Obama than they were under GW Bush.

Black unemployment is up, black home ownership is down, black poverty rate is higher and the black prison population has increased.

The questions are whether a president alone can change those things, what all has Obama done to try and fix those things, and what hasn't he done that he could have?

The one thing that is hard to deny is that a lot of the optics of how Obama has related to black constituents have not been good and seem to side with the idea that he has to distance himself from being perceived as doing things for the black community expressly in order to avoid criticism.

I dont see how anyone can say he wrong.

That doesnt mean its all Obama's fault, or that Tavis isnt bitter that Obama tried to send Michelle to the State of Black People forum instead of attending himself. Obama genuinely aint shyt, imo but neither is Ravis.

But Tavis isnt wrong at all here.

Tavis is absolutely right here, but nikkas are inlove with Obama like irrational females so i expect Smiley to get pilloried here.

My thing is he clearly has an agenda with shytting on Obama. If him and Cornell West were on that stage in Jan 2009 with Oprah and them, we wouldn't be hearing shyt from them. They furious.

My biggest issue with the mufukkaz who shyt on Obama, esp nikkaz, is that nikkaz forgot what the alternative was/is? Mufukkaz who BLATANTLY don't give a fukk about you and are racist as hell? I can't do it, no matter how much I might hate some of the shyt that Barack has done. We also can't cuban B the fact of these cacs shytting on and doing their best not to pass anything he wants.

As far as losing ground, yall really think anything would be different if the president was white? Are we serious? This was gonna happen regardless.

I used to rock with Tavis but I started to see through his bs in 08-09ish. Did he really think that President Obama was going to be elected and be the president just over black people. Get the fukk outtta here. I can argue that the President has actually done a lot for for black folks through various policies. I remember back in 08 thinking to myself, I bet you some black folks are gonna think the President is gonna be the savior of the black community which has been going backwards for more that 30 years.

Tavis is a smart dude. He knows that the real change comes at the local level (State Reps and Senators). We are responsible for our own community.

:yeshrug: He's right. But folks will still :cape: for Obama who is only a brown face for a White supremacist and imperialist system.
A system which enforces explicitly anti-white administrative, immigration & educational policies cannot be classified as white supremacist.

10 year ago it was "Bush knocked down the towers", but now that The Commander-in-chief is a black man all of a sudden 'The President has no real power.'
