The current definition of racism is something that was created by white people. It's something black people have been arguing and fighting against for decades. If you listen to some of the old speeches by Malcolm X, he defines racism from the perspective of African people, who are the victims of racism.
Don't let white people define to you what racism is. WE define racism as the deliberate and systematic disenfranchisement of African people. Whether it be slavery, lynchings, Jim Crow, the war on drugs, redlining, voter intimidation, or any of the countless number of acts of white aggression perpetrated by whites. As Malcolm X says, don't be fooled by the words white people use, they have a lot of pretty sounding words. But they're deeds are the deeds of a snake, the deeds of a serpent, the deeds of a dragon, the deeds of a reptile, the deeds of a beast.
Instead of trying have an argument over semantics, point to the long and deliberate history of their racism that's still going on today.
