Y’all swear he’s JK RowlingWhat does your opinion of his activism that have to do with the money that he makes from his books, films, appearances, and lectures which he's been doing for 20 or so years now?
I’m black, so it’s my businessIf you really felt that way, you'd respect our newfound sense of self determination along the path to freedom. Instead, you're interjecting yourself into a conversation in which you have no business...
while also contributing to a brain drain that is crippling black countries worldwide.
So, no, I dont believe you and please keep your 'wishes'. Its bad luck for ppl who don't like you to be praying over you.
Anti blackNo i haven’t , thanks for the concern
ADOS & FBA are both ahistorical anti black movements, it says a lot of the credibility & substance of ados that it could be easily co-opted by a opportunistic hustler in tariq
Why do ‘Aframs’ ie African Americans need to further define themselves?Anti black
This the shyt I’m talking about. Nikkas chief concern is in aframs culturally distinguishing-defining themselves. That’s exactly what it was in the beginning. Has little to do with Tariq or Yvette
I never said that. You're deflecting.Y’all swear he’s JK Rowling
Do you know the difference between donating and investing?Didn’t know tariq raised 83 K did nikkas get there money back ??? For the failed app …….if he builds this venture then hats off to him … if not then he’s gona get called out for scamming nikkas so he’s put himself in a sticky situation here let’s see what happens …. Tariq is a hustler tho above everything that’s for sure … does he really give a fukk … am not sure … I think he cares a lot more about the money going in his pot or having a lavish lifestyle above everything…..
I never said that. You're deflecting.
So this is about you being mad that he's made money from his business ventures.
activists shouldnt be getting money like this.
Not the slightest bit mad but i answered you already
Even if his funds were legitimate , it looks goofy as he could be using that to materially benefit people.
fwiw, I believe he’s a charlatan hustla, no different to a pastor at church
If my brand was seemingly aligned with black activism I’d make sure my actions were otherwise he’s not much different than those BLM charlatansSo if somebody is successful and has made a lot of money, other people should decide how they spend it?
That’s my main issue. I doubt he’s putting in 3 million of his own money (and even I would advise him not to do so), but either way he’s free to turn this into whatever he wants—or sell it off when it doesn’t work out. He basically got seed money to buy prime real estate. It can’t belong to the “people” if his name—or LLC is solely on the deed. No, $1m will not build, stock, and staff a whole damn museum. He said from the beginning, this was just the first round of funding to secure the location. He said he's adding $2-3m himself, just for the property. Subsequent rounds of funding will cover other needs.
The purpose of the museum is partially explained by its location. This is an opportunity zone and, thus, a newly gentrifying area. As he has explained, the area has black businesses (restaurants, etc), but no real tourism draw, except for nipseys memorial which is a, kinda morbid, and b, not monetized.
I don't donate to his projects, but have purchased documentaries. If he builds it and I'm out that way, I'd go.
How are his actions similar to BLM?If my brand was seemingly aligned with black activism I’d make sure my actions were otherwise he’s not much different than those BLM charlatans
The term African American is not an adequate identifier. Fba and ados has problems as well. But the aim is something more rigid and disciplined in identifying our specific ethnicity. The term African American fails to do thatWhy do ‘Aframs’ ie African Americans need to further define themselves?
Why is this movement explicitly in opposition exclusively to other black folk ?
what are some material improvements borne out of ados/fba?
also while intentions may have been pure at that start do you not see it (ados/FBA)for what it is? in this thread alone, I was referred to by another (presumably) black person as a ‘foreigner’ who ‘fled’ their country. Why is ados /fba aligned with ws rhetoric?
