The biggest problem people seem to have is Tariq is banking off simple ass people making him out to be an expert.

Look, I'll give Tariq that he's no leader. He's problem is a large part of his audience are looking for leaders and make him one.

Nothing about this doc is going to lead to some revolution.

It's simple shyt mixed with homophobia (I'm using that word the right way--the fear of gay-ness) and conspiracy theory.

Overall, pretty harmless because most people will see through it.

The Tariq fans are right, we give too much energy for a man we say ain't worth it.

I've put a few posters on ignore, stopped following him and unsubscribed from his YT.

It's like Tariq doesn't exist until a Tariq hater posts about him.

MOST OF THE FILM
WILL BE ABOUT MODERN DAY
BUCK BREAKING,
NOT THE SLAVE PLANTATION.

COREY KNOWS ABOUT
ALL THE SICK shyt THAT GOES
ON IN HOLLYWOOD.

Not really.

Corey entire theory is success in Hollywood = Compromised butt

Watch enough 5150 over the years and his best proof is B. Scottt getting a higher spot on Foxxhole over ten years ago.

He doesn't provide too many more first hand opinions. Just "how many straight men do you see on TV?"

Someone gives him an example. "he done suspect shyt!" :mjlol:

I'll admit that her philosophy is very surface level compared to Frantz Fanon

However, i don't think we have solid evidence of homosexuality in ancient Africans.
There are a lot of things we don't have a record of, to be fair - colonialism literally wiped away millennia of music, arts, stories, writings, languages, and science.

For Egypt, the Kahun papyri has some information that is a matter of ancient African sexuality.

Same for Wallatta Petros in Ethiopia - beyond that I'd have to turn to the ethnographers, archaeologists, and sociologists of the Continent

Most of Welsing's psychoanalytic claims wouldn't pass muster with the APA.

A lot of her conclusions had as much "validity" as cacs like Carl Jung and Freud.

She refused to interrogate Fanon's understanding of the psychiatric condition of people under subjugation and apply to African peoples in the U.S. and instead went off on ahistorical tangents with no basis in reality.
Yeah Frances Welsing’s work was batshyt nutty, pseudoscientific, and pretty much has no academic merit. The Isis Papers was always considered looney bin material by serious thinkers back in the days. The resurrection and of her legacy as some kind of Black intellectual leader by these young kids with King Flex educations is kinda surprising but not really. We live in a post-truth age.

Who are these “serious thinkers?”

A good indication was that even the radical Black psychiatrists and psychologists of the era simply ignored her work - rather than even bothering with refuting it or acknowledging it shortly afterward. Even Huey Newton, when he worked through the psych conditions of internalized persons in the late 80s absolutely avoided it (the Isis Papers is largely composed of earlier works she'd done in the 70s and 80s).

The only scholar I know who seriously engaged with her work is Bernard Ortiz de Montellano - I didn't do much research afterward - I simply read and criticised her work with a Black psychology professor I had in undergrad.

Eventually get around to it. I still haven’t seen any of his films.
