Tariq put scholars in his documentaries for a reason.Having well educated conscious men (and women) speaking with authority about complex issues is what anchored the series.
Having tariq narrate the series and speaking between scenes of scholars talking might have confused his fans into thinking that he is also a scholar or historian. He clearly isn't. Any one of the historians or academics who appeared would have dismantled whatever jt was trying to say. Tariq was just in over his head.

Speaking of those scholars, many of them came up doing college circuit lectures and speaking engagements. Often promoting a project they are attached to. At the end of the lectures, they often take questions. Fans, opponents holding opposite stances, and the random smart aleks all get to put these scholars on the spot.
Their academic work gets peer reviewed, and there is constant exchange and discussions of ideas.
They don't get to laugh off, brush off, or cop pleas when they are asked to defend their stances like tariq.

tariq leads an echo chamber where he speaks to people following his lead. He can cite a book he didn't fully read, make a generalization about history, or repeat inaccurate slogans to his fans all day without being challenged.

Try that in a debate with a person with an opposite stance, and you get what you saw in the video.

You say that you aren’t “cheerleading”, then turn right around and say that Taylor won the debate. Well saying that he won the debate is what I mean by “cheerleading”. Debates are about people taking an opposing side/take of a particular issue and who’s able to prove their side/take better. To say that Taylor won means to agree with his side and his arguments supporting his side. Don’t run from that with that cowardly “it ain’t about who right.....” bullshyt. Just acknowledge that you agree with Taylor.

Tariq’s position was right/correct and Taylor was simply trolling to deflect. He didn’t “poke holes” in Tariq’s position because Tariq’s position was absolutely true. Taylor’s “well what about Asians.....” argument was some simpleminded troll shyt and it’s telling that so many of you here are so impressed with it. There are no Asian countries that are completely from up underneath the thumb of white supremacy. Not even China.

Again, the fact that y’all give credence to Taylor’s argument is evidence that you don’t fully acknowledge the reality of systematic global white supremacy, and that you probably harbor feelings of black inferiority.

No, you misunderstand. Debates aren't about who's right and who's wrong. Debates are about who got the best rhetorical strong arm. I myself have debated opinions i don't even agree with, just for the sheer joy of whooping intellectual ass.

As in sports, if your team loses, you don't just stop fukking with that team. You watch the tape over and over, you critique, you pick new players, and you figure out the best way to kick they ass next time.

This was exposed early on when he got bodied by Pearl Jr on a neutral show. Tariq did a whole follow up show on his platform on why he DIDN'T lose because he was clearly rattled.

But on his Ustream he's king. Coz he hangs up the phone and roasts them. Sometimes it's not even debates, some fan called in to correct something about the Moors and Tariq clowned him for no reason. It was embarrasing because you could tell Tariq never heard of that fact before...so he made it look like the caller was "nitpicking" when I knew he was speaking facts.
