Even if they did, the movie made a black man more evil than the white slave owner. I’m sure there were barely any black slave catchers in reality, so to make one the antagonist in a movie about Harriet Tubman when she, herself, never mentioned such a thing is blatant black male demonization.
It was clearly propaganda used to push the “slavery wasn’t that bad” and “black people were complicit in their own slavery” angles that are complete BS. It’s an active changing of history going on before our eyes.
