I've never heard Tamia mentioned in the same breathe as Brandy, from peers to critics as far a s vocalist. And I fukk with Tamia, don't get me wrong. If y'all think she's better, that's fine, but y'all are in the minority though. That's a fact.

Nobody with at least one functioning ear would say Brandy is a better singer than Tamia. Sorry.[/QUOTE]

I would add Ledisi to the modern day singers. She gives you that old school feel

Ledesi is the truth....But when I think of Ledesi I think of "the heretic" Chrisette Michele. I'm still not mad at her for getting that bag from Trump. It exposed how hypocritical this society is because she sang about Jesus and Jesus is supposed to be the cure according to the believers....Yet the rules about Jesus being the cure went out the window when it was Trump for some reason.

That just mean 99% of the music critics and musicians must all must be deaf then because they will all have a Brandy over Tamia. Lol. Like I said, everyone is entitled to their opinion, but you won’t find any reputable person, website, critic, musician that has Tamia over Brandy all time as a singer. Again, Brandy was labeled the Vocal Bible. Her peers called her one of the best singers of the generation. Accolades I’ve never heard associated with Tamia.

Her name is Koryn Hawthorne. She sings gospel but the way she can switch up tones, her swagger and even how she looks reminds me of Vesta.

My mother put me on to her & the performance she had on the Voice. This girl was like 15/16 when she sang this. She got that raspy soul singing voice. She's no joke

you mean top 5 singers that the OP wants to smash??

no knock on Tamia, but people need to chill with the random top 5 talk.

Jazmine Sullivan, Fantasia and Brandy blow her out the water to be honest.

I got phyllis on the list. There's a bunch I left out like Dinah Washington, Martha Wash ,Shirley Murdock, Cheryl Pepsii Riley, Regina Belle,.....I'd put all of them before Tamia in terms of impact to R&B.......Even Michelle. I'm glad Michelle got a lil acknowledgement this decade even tho it was revealed she a lil nutty.

But yeah Vesta was part of my puberty years along with Karyn White, Cee Cee Peniston and Paula Abdul. I recently told another poster I found a new singer who reminds me of Vesta a lil..Her name is Koryn Hawthorne. She sings gospel but the way she can switch up tones, her swagger and even how she looks reminds me of Vesta.

Cece slow jam game was so slept on.

I was telling someone how I hate this new generation of whisper singing. I miss grown woman strong vocals singing. The one thing missing from music is that church element. U can tell these artists don't have that gospel. K ci and JoJo, Fantasia voice.

What u think of Lizzo? She's getting a lot of attention in the mainstream as of recent and she got that grown woman strong voice.
