It’s basically a big ass automated mini-gun. A radar picks up ballistic objects that are traveling at a certain speed and the gun systems orient themselves and fire on them. Israel has a bunch of videos of their systems in use because their are large barrages of rockets coming from Gaza. There are also a bunch of videos starting from the mid 2000’s in Iraq since the indirect fire was more common. It’s expensive and requires lots of maintenance so it mostly used on the larger air bases.

The rest of us just had to get to cover until it was over or just keep doing whatever we were doing because we were halfway through the deployment and didn’t care anymore.
