I wouldn't touch the switch at all. I have no authority to take anyone's life.

If I was not there, those people would have died. If I WAS there and took action, that man would have died. I would be directly responsible for that man's death if I were to use the switch. If I did nothing, fate would have taken their lives NOT my inaction.

Morality isn't a question of consequences its a question of principles.

Here's my take for those of you that watched the video.
In both cases if you either flip the switch or push the person over you become a killer. You aren't saving lives you are taking them. If you do nothing at least you aren't killing under the guise of saving people.

your wrong if you could stop there deaths and do nothing that is just like killing them. You saved one so the many could die.

ponder me this , if you do nothing at all, doesn't that still make you a psychopath for allowing 5 human lives to perish when you could have done something?

:snoop: Clearly you are a psycopath.

so are you worse then me because you let many die.

And the whole point of the test is looking how the person reacts to the situation. A psychopath would not think twice in killing a one person to save the many. I had a emotional reaction to it. Though i would sacrifice there life to save the many i would not enjoy it.

Your refusal to take any action is worse than flipping the switch. If the 5 were all your friends and family I would hope you'd let the train kill them just to be consistent with your morality and know that at least you didn't decide who lives or dies even though in reality your inaction decided anyway.

I think this is the problem with the question. In a world where I have to answer to no one and the only consequence for my actions is knowing that I purposely and intentionally killed one man to save five others, then I push that nikka sure. But I don't know if that really makes me a psychopath. Now, if you ask the same question emphasizing that the law is still in place and that unlawful actions still face the normal repercussions, no matter if you saved lives in the process, then I think many of the so-called "psychopaths" who flick the switch in the second situation may begin to second guess there decisions. shyt, in such a situation, I don't even look for the fukking switch or acknowledge the big nikka. Does that make me a cold hearted psycho? I dunno, I just think a particular answer to such a vague question is able to determine your mental state.

*Sigh*
Or instead of pushing someone to their death I could jump and be a sacrifice for them. That way I wouldn't be a murderer. Ever thought of that? Or do you just have your heart on killing someone? I think I would rather live with someone I knew dying naturally rather than knowing that I took someone else's life. Death is a part of life no pun intended. It's not something that can be avoided, it will happen to us all. However, murder can be avoided by simply not doing it. I would say trying to rationalize murder under any circumstance or trying to seduce someone else into it with hypotheticals makes you a psychopath.:obama:
