The U.S. has backed this sect of al-Qaeda for over half a decade now, and we've been pushing to overthrow Assad for nearly 20 years now.

For those who are new to regional geo-politics, the U.S. poor regional decision-making has had us both supporting and abandoning the Kurdish population, supporting in limited ways Turkey and Assad (during a short conflict with ISIS, who we later supported in a limited capacity), supporting Israel in its attacks on Assad, and also supporting a handful of other Muslim Brotherhood-affiliated rebel offshoots (as well as the Saudi and UAE-backed militants).

This is what we wanted, it: 1) limits Russia's influence; 2) weakens the "Axis of Resistance;" 3) helps Israel's domination of the Golan Heights, and; 4) makes Palestine that much easier to erase.

This is going to be a Libyan-like mess.

Thisi s a case of out of the frying pan and into the fire. But that picture of Assad doesn't change the fact he used chemical weapons on civilians and let Russia just level civilian areas like Israel is doing.

Islam has ran that region into the fukking ground.
Has virtually nothing to do with Islam brother.

You should actually pick up some good books that discuss the ongoing conflicts: I can recommend "How the West Came to Rule" by. Alexander Anievas and Kerem Nişancıoğlu; "Washington Bullets" by. Vishay Prashad; Arabs: A 3,000-Year History of Peoples, Tribes and Empires by. Tim Mackintosh-Smith and Arab Development Denied by. Kadri Ali.

I'd reckon you are correct on this.

Unfortunately, Assad's actions provided an incredible strong basis for international opposition to his regime. And the U.S. took advantage of this.

Opposition to Assad and opposition to U.S. interference in their governmental processes is not allowed in most mainstream outlets.
