Episode 1

Episode 2

Description
Earth doesn't have much time left. Earthlings found a potential hospitable planet and sent a large unit to colonize it and make livable for the rest of humanity. Everyone was to be placed in a cryogenic pod until they reached, but trouble signalled. About a year before they were to reach their destination (traveling at warp speed), the ship breaks down and ultimately what ends up happening is that all of the leaders and professionals who were supposed to lead the way and help build the new colony died in the ship destruction. What's left of the crew is mid-leadership, and given that it's now a fight for survival given limited resources and an unpredictable future, a power struggle ensues. Anyways, the meat of the series so far is how the crew adapts to the constant threats to their existence as resources dwindle. There's also a very whodunit mystery-eque vibe to the series, as it's revealed that quite a few of the crewmates are hiding secrets, that the destruction of the ship maybe have been conspired, that things on Earth may not have been as described, and by episode 1 of 2, someone is already murdered without a trace.

Syfy is notorious for getting the audience invested into the story only to gut the series after 1 season. The themes and tropes here remind me of Lost in Space and the 100, so I'll be staying tuned, but I know some of the tropes might not sit well with some brehs. So far, the only off-ship/off-arc scenes are flashbacks from before disaster... So it's looking like the setting might just be the ark for the whole series. It's only two episodes in so I don't know for sure. Even if that happens to be the case, I've personally seen it being done well in sci-fi so that won't deter me from viewing.

Oh nah, nothing like that. By brehs in this context, I'm talking about sci-fi viewers in general. The kid who's more knowledgeable on a particular subtask than someone who received elite training in an adjacent subtask because it interested her for a semester? Get that outta here. I guess it's the nature of shows where they are on a time limit for when doom is impending, but the "wow out of a billion candidates, you so happen to have the exact skill set that we needed at the exact time even though your expertise is elsewhere" gets old fast. shyt like that which kind of lowers the stakes

I'd throw it away immediately for a Dark Matter continuation though
That was my shyt. It's a shame that it got canned, especially after a cliffhanger like that. They were firing on all cylinders at that point, dear god. I don't think that's a project that'll be picked up again unfortunately.

I’m not getting burned by SyFy.
:lolbron:Those fukkers sure do love extinguishing their hottest shows. I can't tell whether it's just a sci-fi thing or its a network thing, but it happens time and time again

So the latest episode is the halfway point of the season andddd I'm really enjoying this show. Secrets are being exposed. Questions are being answered. Problems are being solved with technobabble that sort of make sense. Despite there being a new life ending problem every episode, it doesn't feel too repetitive, and frankly it's to be expected given the circumstances. When one mystery is solved, another even deeper unveiled, every episode ends with some unexpected cliff hanher, which I really love. I also really like the cast, I hope they can find good work when the series ends.

Pretty rad scene
SPOILER:

Given the budget that they're working with, I'm surprised they hit so many scifi checkpoints in such a short time
