The lead singer from Kut Klose was cute.SWV had some voices tho.Where is that poster that Damn near studied all the music groups.

I doubt your referring to me but I am one of those type of posters.

I just don't like this thread because attractiveness was weighed differently when evaluating a R&B singer. Being able to sing was what made you attractive. If you couldn't sing, you were seen as unattractive.

They came from an era where talent came first & looks were second (yes I realized there have been exceptions to this throughout history). Being talented adds to someone's attractiveness & is part of the overall package.

The style was different back than.

The talent was what made them attractive. Being slim & being able to sing was just enough.

Look at prime Koko. Based on pure looks just cute. You hear her amazing singing voice & that alone adds points on the scale.

Plus it was the none internet era. Didn't know anything about these women personally. Being a celeb use to add to appeal as well.

Latocha Scott is a huge reason Xscape was considered unattractive because she was overweight.

I do think Envogue may have been the best combination of looks & talent. Maxine was the only weak link as far as looks are concerned

Athena Cage was the lead singer from Kut Klose. Based on her just looks could be considered just above average, but her demeanor, voice, style just made her :wow:

fukk all yall for dissing any of these 90s black talent. We will never see anything like it again from multiple black groups to television.

My father for some reason is a TI fan.....he doesnt really know his music, but he likes his movies. It's funny....but anyway, one day my father saw his reality show. And he told me, "I saw TI on tv earlier....I saw his wife.....I feel so sorry for lil TI. Seem like he coulda found someone better"

yall trippin.

Lelee was one of the baddest. pioneer of thickness. top 3 goat female prototype. and now shes one of the top industry milfs.

we gonna act like she aint stuntin on that show?

coko was cute. taj was hit-or-miss, but when she was on, she was ON. and obviously she must have the bomb-bomb.

:ehh:I found the opposite, I said TLC was more crossover appeal. SWV was strictly R&B. :yeshrug:

i think that was his point.

SWV = better group. better music. better singing.

TLC = more entertaining & more crossover appeal

i kinda feel like the r&b game was filled with alot of these comparisons. where the better artist had a more commercially successful counterpart.

Honestly, go to youtube, Xscape gets more views than all of them including TLC. They related to women then and now in this men ain't shyt society but we still want them, they relate even more. SWV for all the love don't get that many views. In the 90's, SWV sold a lot more and was far more popular than Xscape but most men don't listen to R&B like that. But even my friends who do listen to it sparingly love SWV more than the others. We were SWV's biggest fanbase. Men.

i think xscape gets more views because 3/4 of the group are all big time reality tv stars now. and even the one thats not on a show has made numerous cameos.

kind of a sign of the times we're living in where the actual music comes secondary. but hey, xscape deserves the legacy boost on the commercial end. they kept it r&b and didnt sell out. they were arguably the 2nd best girl group from the '90s after SWV, imo.

True. I remember the long haired tall one from Total was considered wack because she could not hang with Pam and the other short haired girl vocally, even though she was the prettiest.

We acting like 702 didn't exist

in terms of what? looks? its hard to properly rank them because they were so young. granted, theyre probably older than 90% of us in this thread, but most of their prime clips are from when they were teenagers. i think the light-skinned jawn may have been the only one thats legal. i hope im wrong, but still.

its like reminiscing and debating over who the baddest jawns were back in elementary/middle school. you can only get but so deep into those arguments without the awkward feeling setting in.

meelah is still piff tho. i havnt seen the others in ages.

Monkenstef was something hideous.

nah. shorty with the long-hair was so dope in that video.

the other 2 were okay. they looked better in other clips.

extremely average looking group tho.

EARLY FRONT-RUNNER FOR TELEVISION MOMENT OF THE YEAR!!!!!

MAN, I WISH I WAS A DOCTOR NOW!!!!

TENT INSTANTLY PITCHED!!!!

looking back, lol @ people having vocal arguments over total.

i know the thick one had chit on smash for a minute tho. another pioneer.

we thought pam was dyking. she used to go with mase tho, right?

i like how people arent just focusing on the same 2 or 3 groups. no stones being left un-turned in here.

i think the overall best-looking group from the early-mid '90s is TLC. then i have kut klose and Y-N-Vee as the top runners-up.

-glad to see changing faces getting mentioned. underrated. they had a quick cameo in SWV's new show, btw. the 1st episode.
-as for jade, i think they just werent photogenic. all the pics ive seen from them are trash but they always looked good in the videos. lol.
- en vogue had their moments. i never cared for them outside of the one that played in "juice".

- oh and somebody mentioned ZHANE. man thats wassup. but i never rocked with them on the looks level simply because i dont rock with the fingerwaves & dark-taper chicks. they took themselves out of the discussion in my book with that type chit.
