Trailer looks good and....lo-fi. I'm not sure people will get what I'm saying, or if that's even a good way to describe it. But it looks kinda low budget which is a plus. Also (at least from this trailer) it looks hard to determine what year this takes place in, which again is a good thing. I don't mind horror movie remakes off GP but a lot of classic horror movies would be ruined if they were remade in modern times where everyone has an Iphone and is on social media.

It looks like a film made in the 70s that's been digitally restored for a special 4K release.

To your last point that’s why if you remake something it’s best to either acknowledge the new tech, incorporate it somehow, or make a retro movie like this looks.

Cabin in the woods and you’re next pulled off the cell phone thing perfectly. One used meta jokes and the movies construct to kill them off and another used the lack of cell phone service as a plot device and something to be paid off at the end of the movie.

I’ll be interested to see how they incorporate it into Halloween, which clearly takes place in 2018

I'd rather they side step it entirely by either A. being vague about what year it takes place in or B. going the anachronistic route like "It Follows" where the tech is all over the place so you can't nail down what year it is.

Bingo. The original is beautiful but it's obviously an old film, visual quality-wise. I'm not sure I'd want to see a film like that in 4K. It would be like if Quik remastered a Wu album from the 90's. Part of the charm is the grime on it.

That’s probably what they’re doing in Halloween. But also in it follows it really didn’t matter who you called or with what, if you were going to get got it was going to happen. I imagine Michael is the same way. Dread it, run from it, the knife still happens

Never heard of the original or this until today. Will give it a watch once it hits Amazon Prime. I'll be canceling MoviePass after the summer since I rarely have the time to catch a movie in a theater September thru early May.
