Just started this. On the second season now. Show is actually very good. It's the black Entourage I've always wanted to see on television in a lot of ways except it's actually smarter.
-Actor who plays Reggie has the strongest role, and he lives up to it, he's really the heart of the show.
-Actor who plays Cam is definitely a fakkit, but it's not as bad as some of y'all make it seem. The inky time it was noticeable was that scene where's he walking out the gym
ALL the queen came out in that stride...
-Teyonnah Parris is the woman Allah has been saving me for
. That woman is an absolute GODDESS and a great actor to boot. The episode where she goes natural reminded me of what my Ex went through when she went natural and how I had to reassure her for about 3 months that she was still beautiful and desirable.
-Mike Epps was BORN to play the role of the slightly perverted uncle with a heart of gold. I've never been a huge Mike Epps fan but his part, in this series, with this ensemble is gold.
-The gay sister is cool, but she (and to a certain extent Tachina Arnold's character) are heavily stereotyped. The "loud and ghetto" storylines are getting a little tiresome. But again, they all work well within the ensemble.
The scenery of ATL, the women
, and the way the stories are written are fun, entertaining, and in a way, informative. I really enjoy how they attempt to show young professional black men thinking with their heads, not just their dikks, and trying to build legacies not just bank accounts. I don't know why some of you are complaining about Cam's lack of basketball playing. It is akin to Vince being a big time actor in Entourage, you rarely saw Vince doing any actual "acting" until Season 3. The profession itself is the least important aspect of the shows foundation, it is simply the means with which the character enters his present circumstances.
