Well that Lex was based on the Post Crisis Lex. Personally that is my favorite version of the character

I think most of the the trailer is the first set piece in the movie. It opens with Clark late to the office and this random Kaiju shows up in Metropolis to establish what kind of universe we are in. We get the the intro of Superman saving kids and Metropolis from another stupid attack. Gunn already said this is not a origin story and Supes has been around already.
