Los Ingobernables de Sala de Cine
I love those joints but lets be real it was heavily influenced by the tv show. And while it got the gothic/macabre element all that was somewhat overwritten by the campy tone of the films.Batman is not campy nor should his movies have had disney like orchestra playing during scenes. When we were kids it was acceptable but looking back Burton's arrogance was outta hand
I disagree. They had their campy moments but remember that the comics weren't that different yet. The wave of comics turning darker and more serious had only just begun and not yet fully caught on. The movies were based on the stuff before that wave because it was the Batman most people were familiar with.
Also, Burton only really showed his hand in Batman Returns which was more a Burton than a Batman movie, but I can forgive it because it's actually the most layered of the Batman movies with the trifecta of Batman, Catwoman and Penguin as animal-themed vigilantes who show deeper resentment towards humanity the more they embrace their animal side. It's even visible in the original poster which features the three characters in a 'totem'.
