On one hand, Bernie probably should have invested in more in the south. I also think running more left wing wasn't a good idea. He got endorsements inside SC, he had way better staff... he probably should have been trying to get Clyburn to hold off, offering something.

Unless you can get new people in, winning a Dem primary is hard without institutional or establishment backing.

And Obama's VP being able to snap a finger and get black support is tough

Man he should have joined the party after 2016. That would have been the savvy move knowing he was going to run again in 2020. It's bad enough you come from a 90%+ white state, you're just pouring jelly on yourself not joining the party and establishing better bonds w/ these people. I just hate how myopic he is at times.
