Smash Wii U has some wack modes compared to Melee and Brawl.
Adventure mode from Melee>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>.
That was missing in Smash Bros Wii U.
The Smash Run mode in Smash NDS wasn't in the Wii U version.
Board the Platforms was a great mode they took out for some odd reasons as is the break the targets (Target Smash isn't as good imo).

4 is growing on me (Mario's Fair spike
), but yeah, I miss all the crazy stuff you could do in Melee and Project M.I hope that more people get into playing Project M-- game has the GOAT physics, the GOAT balance, the combos, and everything you can do is just
4 is still a dope game though. Trying to learn how to approach with Mario, but I play Falcon and Ness on the side
For the next Smash though, they gotta get some better modes into the game. Adventure mode, character specific target tests, board the platforms, race to the finish, etc.
IMO they're starting to scrape the bottom of the barrel in terms of characters at this point (third parties excepted).

4 is a fine game in it's own right. I can clearly see how new smashers would gravitate to the game. It just sucks compared to the games before it (gameplay wise)
Brawl was already casualised compared to melee. Smash 4 just went overboard. I still play it when people come over and they talk nonsense about how they better then me. But yea i haven't put real time into the game for over a year.
PM is the GOAT smash game. Shame Nintendo is actively trying to kill it. I haven't been able to enter any tournaments recently due to my new job but here's some tournament sets of my zss and sheik
Also netplay is actually a thing with both melee and PM assuming you have a pretty good computer.
