i was pretty young when i played this. i saw all the curtains, the manufactured background and everything, but i guess i just thought it was meant to be surreal. considering nintendo continued this trend by producing games made from paper, yarn, and other craft materials, it still seems that in spite of the bizarre way the story is told, you can still take them literally.

i was actually completely lost at this part of the movie...i still dont get it

i mean..i understand the overall concept and what happened...but what was this supposed to mean?
The Prestige spoilers below:
They thought that because Tesla's machine didn't clone things in the immediate vicinity where they expected it to, that it didn't work.

Turns out, they just didn't know where the clones were ending up...so Tesla's machine really DID work.

This meant that Hugh Jackman's character was really cloning himself, and killing himself each time, all for the sake of the "magic trick."

I loved The Prestige.

I was fukking 6 at the time. My 6 year old niece hasn't even learned multiplication yet.

The Things That Stood Out To Me (Yes Even Back Then) Was The Curtains Going Up In The Begining, Thinking It Looked Like Show Or Play

I Also Thought It Was Cool At The End Of A Stage That It Look Like Mario Was "Walking Off The Set" Like How When You See Outakes From TV Shows And You Can See How Someones House Is Just A Set

Ive Also Played The Game As An Adult And Noticed It Was Themed Like A Staged Show

No One Is Calling You Dumb, Im Just Surprised People Didnt Notice It When Is Basically The Premise Of The Game

No Need To Get Angry

lol this post is so ridiculous its gotta be a troll

it doesn't take some kid genius to recognize what a damn stage play looks like, they do plays in elementary school bruh

no one's calling you dumb so you don't need to be offended if you were :mindblown: but if you think it takes some taj mowry smart guy ass nikka to see the curtains and the props dropping down in the INTRO of the game and equate that to a play then you're wildin

Double Dragon has a dope back story.

We always think the story is:Two brothers, Billy and Jimmy Lee, wander through the streets of New York, beating up gangs. and the clichéd girlfriend gets kidnapped.
70566_v1.jpg

The real backstory is: The game is actually supposed to take place in the post-apocalypse. They're both supposed to be martial arts masters protecting a sacred and secret style. And the woman? She's not just your helpless girlfriend: She's also an instructor named Marian who also teaches at the martial arts schooL. The game manual also makes a specific point of mentioning that, though she's Billy's girlfriend, Jimmy has a thing for her too.

In the Famicom port's instruction booklet they're forced to close down their martial arts shop after the nuclear war kills most of their client base. Street gangs rise from the ashes of New York, and one such gang kidnaps Billy's girlfriend, Marian.

At the very end, after beating the boss, Lord Humungus, you get to randomly fight each other. As little kids it was fun for player 1 to fight player 2.

The truth is: It's revealed that Jimmy is actually the one who secretly kidnapped Marian. So what you saw through child's eyes as a fun little section where you finally got to fight each other, you now know was a (possibly post-rape) struggle between brothers in a society that collapsed, leaving violence and death as the only laws.

I'm with that guy...i knew about the curtain and the intro being a stage and a play, but I didn't piece together that the actual GAME was a play...this wasn't mind blowing but yeah I didn't put that together because, why would I?

furthermore, if you think of the powerups (tanooki suit, hammer bros suit, frog suit) they're all costumes; outside of fire power he just puts on a suit and gets the powers of the suit like a play costume. Clever little game.

you were never playing as mario. You were watching a play he produced and acted in.
