What’s the point of the ineligible player down the field penalty? Like is it that bad if a lineman is just a few yards up the field? That’s one rule I just never got and would get rid of right away if I was commish.

i would say because players have to report themselves as eligible in the pass game. if not you gonna throw to the oline man if he can handle to fball
