I think they are afraid of the pressure that comes with being a rookie Colts QB. Luck damn near killed himself trying to live up to his hype and following Peyton's footsteps.

I think they should do what Chiefs did with Mahomes, get their guy and redshirt him, have an offense catered to him by the time he's ready to start
Colts are devoted to being the Hospice of the NFL. Would think Luck’s retirement signals to the franchise the importance of having an effective O-line, that’s a big part of the reason he wrecked himself on the field.

It’s also hard replicating what the Chiefs did. They had continuity in a very solid QB in Smith, an SB-ready offensive unit with little holes on the other side, and a HOF HC to boot under Reid. Indy doesn’t have any of that.
