Hypertension isn't so cut and dry because genetics plays a huge part in that. I remember reading a study that found that 33% of collegiate athletes had pre hypertension (though only like 10% were above 140).

Even Joe Montana had to watch out for his high blood pressure.

it all runs in my family

I've seen more than a few live with it and completely reverse it so I know it's possible

I rebuke that hypertension diabetes shyt for my people, far too many of us just get on a pill and don't make significant changes

Miami Marathon is next week and I got like 16 family members going including my 70 year old mother

she was pre-diabetic and had hypertension in her 50s....she lost two sisters in their 50s to the same

multiple men in my family who have lost over 100-150 lbs the natural way and all their blood work did a 180

it's all about preventative maintenance IMO

but it's not easy which is why life sucks sometimes

This is all anecdotal evidence breh and it lacks actual numbers along with genetic diversity because you used your family as an an example.

Prevalence of Elevated Blood Pressure and Risk Factors for... : Clinical Journal of Sport Medicine

Setting:

Eleven Pacific-12 Conference institutions.

Participants:

Of the 8602 athletes enrolled in the primary study, 4977 (57.9%) met inclusion criteria. Athletes were included in the study if age <30 and blood pressure (BP), baseline demographics (age, weight, height, sex, and race), and primary sport were available.

Independent Variables:

Age, sex, race, height, weight, body mass index, and primary sport.

Main Outcome Measures:

Elevated BP of ≥130/80 mm Hg and/or ≥140/90 mm Hg.

Normal BP (<130/80) was present in 3214 (64.6%) athletes and 1763 (35.4%) had BP ≥ 130/80, including 460 (9.2%) with BP ≥ 140/90. Male athletes had a higher prevalence of BP ≥ 130/80 (46.7% vs 21.5%; P < 0.001) and BP ≥ 140/90 (14.2% vs 3.1%; P < 0.001) compared to female athletes. Independent risk factors from multivariate analyses for BP ≥ 130/80 included: older age (odds ratio [OR] = 1.05, 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.00-1.11, P = 0.04), male sex (OR = 1.97, 95% CI 1.65-2.35, P < 0.001), heavier weight (OR = 1.03, 95% CI 1.02-1.03, P < 0.001), and baseball as the primary sport (OR = 1.47, 95% CI 1.14-1.90, P < 0.01). Independent risk factors for BP ≥ 140/90 mm Hg included: male sex (OR = 3.54, 95% CI 2.55-4.97, P < 0.001) and heavier weight (OR = 1.03, 95% CI 1.02-1.04, P < 0.001).

I'm not a doctor at all

I know some people's health is so poor that even trying to get into physical shape can do more harm then good

I just also know that hypertension and diabetes are not inescapable fates the way many make it seem like it's guaranteed for us no matter what

You're right. You can work your way out of it but some of us gotta work extra hard at it for a longer life.

I took it personally because I have to work my ass off to get out of the prehypertension category because my family falls into the prehypertension genetic lottery. My hamstrings are tight as hell because I just did 6 days of one hour cardio and I'll probably do another hour after the Ravens game. I gotta do all of this just to be under 120/80 :snoop:

I ran track in college and had to go through the extra tests every year i competed. After the usual exams I would have to go onto a treadmill with a heart rate monitor and some type of tube shoved in my mouth :dame: just to be cleared because I was regularly scoring at 130+ in my late teens.

So yeah I got a little sensitive. That's life though.

Type 2 or not, nobody asks to have diabetes or high blood pressure

These people are asking for "better health" without actually putting in work for better health, or in some cases get worse health than before they started

Anybody willing to inject bullshyt into their bodies for the equivalent of a 5 minute south beach diet instead making life long mental & physical activity changes should be shamed. Just like bytches that can't be bothered to love themselves as is or go to a gym for a better ass, going to the DR instead for cement injections.

Same premise, same levels of vanity & putting your life on the life, same treatment methods, same shame

Type 2 DM can be managed by diet and exercise most fat people are diabetic or prediabetic

Yeah. You even have kids as young as like 5 or 6 on statins (cholesterol meds) because they have familial high cholesterol. These kids aren't even fat, it's just that they have genetically high cholesterol.
