I don't know my my dude. Teddy P meant EVERY WORD of that song! He was talking to somebody in particular when he was singing those words.

But in full disclosure, I haven't heard the David Ruffin version.

I'm a dudette, but I totally feel you. Especially the rap at the end "Oh I forgot you're not hip to the hip talk...that's a job a plain J.O.B baby...all the over time you can get" LOL!!

But David Ruffin's voice, man...it's just all that to me. "Walk away from Love" is one of my favorite songs.
