Should we root for a proper tank next year?
I think that would be best long term getting a high pick next year with tons of cap space in 2015 but Dolan wont allow that plus Phils not getting any younger but if Melo leaves theyd really have no choice in the matter theyd be forced into a rebuild for a year

Offseason is pretty simple too me if Melo wants to take a paycut and help get other star players in here great if he wants the max
Obviously id want most of the other players aside from THJ gone but reality is nobody is gonna take any of these bums off our hands unless we take a worse longer contract in return which we cant do under any circumstances so unfortunately we might have to see alot of these players back for one more year
You do realize the other star players also have to take pay-cuts for it to work, right? No lone player in Miami took a pay-cut. 
All 3 did and if other players aren't gonna take a pay-cut to come to NY, then 'Melo shouldn't either. Lj and Bosh actually got a raise because they went to a bigger market and can get even more because of the ch'ips they now have.

I know it's probably the right move...but F!#k a re-build. spent damn near all my 20s watching the Knicks be garbage this season was just the cherry on top, Call me crazy but w/ a upgrade at the PG position and Coach I still think the Knicks can Contend. None of these teams in the NBA are elite just a bunch of Good to very good teams. If Melo leaves then I can see a full Tank mode but I'm tired of the media always talking ish about us brehs

Yeah.
They also were completed via Sign and Trades. People forget that. A lot of first round picks were packaged to get LeBron and Bosh. And while they took pay-cuts. The amount only came out to about 15M over the span of the 6 year deal, and they aren't staying for all six years, so a significant portion of the money they "gave up" isn't real, as those years in the deal were never going to exist.
If Melo wants to follow what Wade did, taking a much smaller deal than the allowable max, then great. But unless stars like LeBron opt out this summer and coordinate with Melo - like they did in 2010... Melo doesn't have the advantage of KNOWING other players will sign smaller deals.
We'll see what happens. Dude is a great player, if he stays... he stays. If he leaves, we'll move on. But if he leaves this summer, people need to recognize that life without Melo is an ugly offensive proposition.
