Perhaps, but where are your priorities? Very few people are stealing welfare, and those that do have a minor effect on society. Banks and big business, on the other hand, have made stealing "welfare" their standard modus operandi, and they're affecting society in a very profound and significant way.
PolitiFact Georgia | Is education level tied to voting tendencies?
my thought on this is you get what you vote for. Guess who don't vote, poor uneducated people; and when they do vote guess who they vote for?
How many times have we seen and laughed at people voting against their own best interests? Far to often. My theory is that these people are just ignorant and get sold on whatever they are fed. It'll always be harder to dupe an educated person, this is the importance of education, this is what makes this idea a good one. Personally I doubt it'll affect anyone financially, on a "oh shyt they're expecting us to do shyt" type tip, i suspect it'll put a fire under some asses to start paying attention.
For me this was never about money. I've argued millions of times over that "welfare" is a red herring. Budget wise it's a blip on the radar...but i also understand that my analysis of this situation is based on current numbers, fact of the matter is over time welfare and medical care will exceed that of defense spending and will continue to grow. That's just not sustainable.
I'll wholeheartedly admit this is not the best idea to address this, but given the lack of anything being pushed in this direction i'll take what I can get.
We know dems aren't going to try and ram this down, it's politically not smart, for the country though, this issue needs to be addressed and if it takes an ignorant, racist to get the ball rolling...well like i said, if an enemy tells me not to stick my junk in a running blender i'll support that idea regardless of it's origin.
