DC and NYC firms are begging people to take staff attorney and support jobs- remote work/wfh/virtual; signing bonuses, referral bonuses, usually I give you the benefit of the doubt but there is literally nothing stopping you from having income except your ability to apply and willingness to adapt. Idk what it is to NOT work or have a legal hustle since summer at age 16, that unemployed ish would drive me insane. No adult over 25, should be taking about they’re bored or broke in a rut unless it’s figuring out some shyt to become unstuck. You need to sit back, get rid of the negative state of mind and think shyt into existence. Will power is more impactful than you think.

No one will help vouch for you or reference for you at risk of their reputation, with these woe is me tales- it’s been 3 years now; that’s 3 years of work experience where you could have picked a specialization and test out different areas :facepalm:Key Word hint in the sector right now: Conflicts Analysts and Practice Support

Become a househusband. It's not that different from what you're currently doing, you'll just have to do the domestic work since your wife is the sole provider.

Do this for a few months/years then...

Divorce your wife and try to get spousal support. You can say you were putting your career on hold to help further hers or whatever line sells it to the judge. Look for the best divorce attorney in Chicago.

Good luck.

Where’s he getting the money to hire a divorce lawyer? Your setting up dude to become homeless; they have no kids. Doubt they own any substantial assets just starting out. Judge will hit him with no Spousal if she’s making less than 200k and tell them to leave the marriage with what they both came in with. Judge will also limit the amount based on the fact that he’s capable of working with a JD. Added to that- more than likely pay for their own respective legal fees. Then he’ll be in debt and emasculated. Y’all watch too much high net worth individuals on tv- gassing him up to be the new Kendall J. Blige.

Oh I wasn't being serious, that's why said become househusband. That's a hard no for most men:russ:

Your advice was gold though. Especially this:

People really discount this. Nobody goes into this thinking "I'll be unemployed for a few years." However, being unemployed for two months can easily become six, which can easily become a year and so on. If you take a job and stick with it then you'll have experience, stable employment history, and maybe a reference. You may even find yourself getting promoted within the company if you're able to build the right relationships.

This is what I tell all of the young new hires. Yes, it's a retention pitch but it's also true.
