My people been here damn near 500 years. I nor most of my family ever used the label African American. My family used to tell me while I do have history in Africa, I’m not African. We’ve just referred to us as black. Being here 500 years I’m American. Customs and culture were created from being here all these years. I’m native to the country and a black american.
