what are you doing for hip and ankle stretches?

Squat stretches similar to this (go to 8:30):

Some hip flexor stuff like this:

The above two are most important for me.

My favorite glute stretch:

Plus a generic hamstring stretch.

For calf, just some some basic stretches. Straight-knee followed by bent-knee.

Sounds like a lot but its really just 10 mins, longer if I feel like really puttin in work with the squat stretches. I'll hold the stretches until the muscle(s) stop elongating. Could take 30 seconds, could take 2 minutes. Depends.

Good post, this is pretty much exactly what I do too.

The stretch/massage at 4:30 in the first vid is fukking amazing. I started doing it three weeks ago.

I use my couch and a basketball to do this, works better than a foam roller I think.

Be warned, if you've been squatting a while and never did this before, this shyt will make you cry like a bytch if you go hard with a lacrosse or basketball. The first time, I got a cold sweat and my eyes teared up, and I got a high pain threshold. But then you stand up and :gladbron: feel the difference. My hips are so loose, baby status.

If you squat, and got issues with tight painful hips and/or lower back pain, this will fix it like a magic bullet. No joke

I stretch before doing my abs. I dont want to take a break on my 200 set so a quick stretch keeps things nice and loose when im in the zone.

Just a little update on my progress with that Piriformis release stretch... Been doing it for a month and some change and it is no longer painful to do. I suppose I could do it less often now but it feels nice so I might as well keep it in my stretch routine. You get that warm soreness sensation that feels good in the hip area, like the day after a good workout.

The guy in the vid I posted said he likes to stay on the really painful spots for a bit, but I found that just hurts a lot and that the best progress came when I went at it hard. Makes sense because what you're doing is working out all the scar tissue that builds up from mainly doing heavy squats.

Squat form was good before but now it is immaculate. Heavy deep pain free squats is a wonderful thing and a goal I've been working on past few months.

On that note, I've also learned the importance of keeping a tight upper back when squatting, and the necessity of flexible shoulders to achieve this, for keeping chest up and a neutral protected spine.

It's the kind of shyt you know, but knowing something does not mean you've internalized it and adhere to it in practice...
