I mean if you're not into streetwear this is the best way i can explain it...
Think of an item that has a limited run for a reasonable price that people want.
Once that item is sold out people who desperately want it (hypebeast fakkits) are willing to pay whatever they have to to get it.
Here's an example.

In the UK right now for a few weeks for career purpose and was going to buy one when it comes out today, went on their site but it was the UK version and missed it here.
These people that pay those high prices on the resells nuts..can't knock the hustle for the people that resell em though.

from what i've read...its a company that makes clothing in limited runs. The fact that it is limited makes people wanna buy it.

It was the most popular street wear brand before OF amongst Hypebeast, then when they came out it went even bigger. Kinda like when rappers started wearing Bape.
Honestly OF is the reason selling fakes is poppin right now. Just like Bape. When Wayne and Pharell were seen in it you could see the fakes at hood barbershops and shyt.
Wu-tang, Dipset, and 3 6 Mafia has done tee shirts with them tho(shyt I'd pay whatever it cost to get that Dipset tee in xl)
I've heard those box logo tees were as high as $500 on ebay as of today...I missed out
