BTW the issue with Balrog is that in his current state he is absolutely broken on some not fair at all type shyt

So given Capcoms record for overcorrection he's prob gonna be trash on release

If there's issue with a character, then how does that confirm them being all on deck? B'sides, of coure they're in-process of completion, but that doesn't mean they're just outright available on disc ready to use right now or anything. They may have some files and imprints on there, but until they get all the kinks ironed out, saying the above is moot.

Posting this outside of the Tournament thread to avoid confusion. This won't affect the current tournament we got going in any way.


@Klarifeye The Great brought up a good idea the other day

I think if we get 25 plus we should do like a month long season followed by a tournament though...that way its not just single elimination and people can fight different styles and fighters....

Concept for a Coli Monthly Season.

Group Stage - Week 1 to Week 3

- 20 player cap (just for this example)
- 2 Groups (10 players per group)
- First 3 weeks, each player fights the other 9 people in their group (3 fights per week)
- At the end of week 3, the top 4 players from each group will move on to the "Playoffs".

Playoffs - Week 4

- Top 4 players from each group fight each other in an 8-man single elimination tourney
- There will be also be a battle for 3rd place.

Season Ends

Here's why I think it would be dope to go this route.

1) This lets us have a set schedule every month, no confusion.

2) Like @Klarifeye The Great said, you get a chance to fight different players and characters

3) People who don't qualify for the playoffs will only have to wait 1 week before getting back into the action. In our current double elimination tournament, people who already got knocked out now have to wait 14+ days to fight again. Not fun.

4) Because everyone gets 9 fights, if something comes up and you miss 1 or 2 fights due to work/school/life, it's not a big deal. If you're really good, you can make up for it in your other 7 matches.

5) In terms of logistics, nothing really changes. We've been doing about 2-3 fights per week. Now you get assigned your 3 matches of the week and organize with Coli brehs when you are gonna fight.

6) ^^^ matter fact, this might make it easier because you now have a full week to set up your 3 fights. You could hypothetically get your 3 matches in on 1 day. We'll see how it shakes out.



Any downsides? I mean, you might get blown up and end up with a bad season record. But ay, that's just how it goes in sports. The point is to compete, have fun and get better.

Challonge.com should be able to take care of the brackets and standings. Let me know what you think brehs.

We can do it how they do the topanga league and can use Game Record or Differential as the tie breaker if there is one.

GD stands for Game Differential, and it's the amount of individual games won or lost as part of the multiple first to three sets played. It's the first tie-breaker used to decide overall placement. For example, if Player A won 3-2 over Player B, Player A's GD would be +1. The second tie-breaker is head-to-head record.

Oh yeah, if this becomes official, we'll make a new thread and @mention everybody on that SFV list, depending on how big we want this to be. If this shyt blows up to 40 player seasons, we'd have to figure out a better system for people to set up their matches because the amount of cross-fire "Yo @JoeyTones when you wanna play!? " posts will be insane lol.

I think so, there's probably a way to randomize it and/or rank everyone by seed from the previous season results. We'll worry about that later though.
