hey im not knocking the value, if they are getting paid even close to these amounts its an insane hustle. my old ass just has a hard time crunching these numbers. but if they bring traffic, the ad revenue must be enormous

I dunno how true this is, but Kai and other big streamers are making serious bread. This dude Kai makes almost 300k a year just from his sleep streams alone. Not to mention his gamer streams. Streams hanging out with other high profile celebs/entertainers, and brand deals. If Kai can keep his head on straight he's going to be a real mainstream name in the future.

I contribute to the success of some of these streamers.
Whenever i get ready to watch a new movie or tv show I first watch various early review channels to see if they liked it or not to build my hype. then after watching the movie or a tv show i check out a break down/analysis video on youtube to see if i missed any Easter eggs. Then i check out several reaction videos to see if people were as hyped or disappointed as i was when watching said movie. Then i watch various theory videos to see what people are predicting will happen in the sequel or next episode.

So literally for every piece of traditional media, i supplement it with at least 4 to 10 content creators videos related to it.
That said, its only those type of streamers i mentioned, i don't get the people that sit and watch another dude act silly in front of his pc playing league of legions for 24 hours.

This streaming shyt is just YouTube but now. The creator and their audience/subscribers can interact with each other in real time. It’s that simple lol just another form of entertainment. There’s gaming, music, cooking, drawing, sports, and political streamers. It’s not hard to understand lol.

I don't get streaming... At all

I played competitive smash melee years ago so I get watching professionals play but these streamers aren't that good.

I never wanted to watch my older brother's play games growing up so why I wanna do it now. Hand me a controller.

Okay so I'm in my early 30's so streaming isn't my thing either but due to all the hype I decided to check out Kai's Mafiathon because I thought the concept was interesting. To me, it's kinda like reality tv for these kids, they like the character (Kai) and get a view into his everyday life with his crew etc. Add in appearances from popping rappers and other celebs and you got entertainment. It's kinda like how people like Joe Budden's pod because it sounds like friends kickin it, streaming is the same, just watching nikkas hang out, play 2k etc. Kai seems like a pretty humble dude as well so I think people also naturally want him to win.
