I'm surprised you don't like Stove. I think he's mad entertaining. I'm really surprised he's as polarizing as he is. Like, I'm not surprised there are heads out there that aren't a fan, because he's so flagrant with his style that it's bound to not be for everyone. But I'm surprised at how many people specifically think that he's corny, goofy, etc.

How long can people listen to the same over serious street bars without wanting something different lol. Stove reminds me of an east coast Gunplay, who I'm a big fan of. I'm not gonna get the most rappity rap bars but I'm going to get dope ass delivery and energy over great beats. I love the pockets he finds in these loops, the way he adds melody to shyt. It's cool.

Every Stovegod hook doesn't hit, but when he hits it's a home run.

There is no one who fukks with hip hop that I know who I've played stovegod for that didn't fukk with him immediately. Who you like my nikka?
Right now? Ransom, Flee Lord, Conway, King Chip

This dude’s voice and delivery is akin to fingernails on a chalk board.

I can’t even appreciate the beats because his voice is so grating.

It’s funny, because he actually sounded a lot better before he turned into Stovegod. His prior incarnation wasn’t nearly as bad at all.

Exactly, man. Nailed it. A lot of the goon rappers seem to take themselves real seriously, and you can picture them rapping with a mean mug on their face. Stove is one of the few drug game goon rappers that seems more self-aware IMO.

He doesn't take himself seriously, and I think he's very aware of how over the top and ridiculous his music is. That's why I fukk with it. I get the impression that he's smiling when he records his raps as opposed to maintaining and overly serious or drab demeanor. Not to knock Benny, but Stove is the opposite of a Benny in terms of his delivery.

He's not reinventing the wheel with material, but he's ridiculous, and purposely so. I think he's clearly winking to his audience, and he's damn near encouraging his fans to treat his music like an inside joke. It's more fun if you're in on it. And Boldy is similar to me of not taking himself too seriously either, but in the opposite direction. Boldy is adding a lot of humor by way of his deadpan delivery and ridiculous ad-libs, but I don't wanna get sidetracked away from Stove.

Edit: BTW I've never listened to Gunplay besides a song or two over the years. I guess I'll check him out.

Damn. I didn't think anyone fukked with Flee more than Stove. Both have very signature voices, but damn. I'd take Stove alone on the fact that Flee presents himself as an overly serious tough guy that is beefing with Prodigy's family (RIP P) and doing gimmicky things like dropping 12 projects in 12 months, and Stove is clearly just having fun with the music.

He fukks around on the mic a lot and his shyt is mixed, but Gunplay gets in his lane...

But the point is Gunplay is a rapper who is lacking, from a lyrical and technical perspective. Yet

Gunplay/Stove God is a dope comparison. Definitely see the similarities. I think you might be underrating Gunplay as a technician though.
