Wouldn't be surprised if Biden passes last minute July 4th Executive Order to continue benefits.
Federally the benefits were offered until September, but states were allowed to opt out. Nothing really anything Biden can do.
Even Dem states are being squeezed to fill hospitality and restaurant positions to help the local economy. They will have to put the previous employment qualifications in to access the enhanced employment no matter how long it’s extended.Biden could directly or indirectly apply pressure if he really wants to.

Because there is a widely available vaccine and there are positions available. That's true. But still, what's preventing Biden from ordering the IRS to send lump-sum checks from the un-used funds to people who received PUA on tax returns in states where it's being terminated early?
Because there is a widely available vaccine and there are positions available.
The point of the stimulus and unemployment money was to get people to stay home and not spread the virus. The ability to take care of their family with some income made that easier.
If he’s going to reappropriate Covid funds it should be to fight covid.
That's true but a major reason women aren't returning to work is because of childcare. That's why it made sense to end it on Labor Day, when kids are about to go back to school. Ending it early will result in less consumer spending in addition to persistent job openings.
There’s still a tax credit coming in July for parents.
many of these people had kids and jobs before Covid so it’s not like summer hours and job are foreign ideas.
If people choose to wait out until the Labor Day holiday with the funds they have that’s their choice.
But it’s not Biden’s job to make everything easy for parents. There are people with legit medical issues preventing them from getting the shot but are stuck in red states with low vaccination rates.
300 guaranteed you don’t have to pay back isn’t nothing to sneeze at.It's not just about making it easy for people. I'm also speaking to the general economy. If people have less money, they're gonna spend less. The child care credit is only $300/mo per child, while PUA is at least $300/wk. Many of those mothers will get jobs again when school starts and maintain consumer spending rates. And affordable childcare has gotten much harder to find.
300 guaranteed you don’t have to pay back isn’t nothing to sneeze at.
But again I feel like your conflating two separate thing. Covid money is supposed to help fight Covid. That’s the stimulus and unemployment.
Childcare being outrageously expensive isn’t related to Covid and won’t go down in the fall.
This is an entire separate policy issue.
