Myself and my own.
Not exactly self luminous. The sun is responsible for the moons light. I only gave my THEORY that the moon isnt just "reflecting light" from the sun. How? Because i know what something reflecting light looks like, versus what something giving off its own light looks like.

"Yes, electron excitation in gasses causes them to glow. When electrons in a gas are energized, they jump to higher energy levels (excited states). When these electrons return to their lower energy levels (ground states), they release the excess energy in the form of photons, which we perceive as light. "

Electron excitation does cause gasses and molecules to glow. The moon does in fact have an atmosphere that has neon, helium etc in it. When helium gas is excited it usually glows in pale yellow. This is a common thing with planets called air glow. Scientist have just decided the moons atmosphere is too "thin'' for this to be the case. Theyll tell you shadows arent possible if moon emits its own light. But shadows still happen with airglow. Also i think it explains the phases of the moon just fine.

Im choosing to hold off on things based on what im seeing. Frankly i dont think its insane to think that maybe scientist dont know every molecule in the moons atmosphere, and what type of reaction the sun could be creating with those gases and molecules. The Illumination Theory is still a work in proggress:respect:
Sun is out here giving the moon golden showers against its will and you out here trying to cover for it saying the moon is actually excited on its own. Rape apologism on a cosmic scale. :wow:

what if the sun is the reflection of the interaction between the moon and the earth?
In a key episode in the conflict, Set sexually abuses Horus. Set's violation is partly meant to degrade his rival, but it also involves homosexual desire, in keeping with one of Set's major characteristics, his forceful, potent, and indiscriminate sexuality.[31] In the earliest account of this episode, in a fragmentary Middle Kingdom papyrus, the sexual encounter begins when Set asks to have sex with Horus, who agrees on the condition that Set will give Horus some of his strength.[32] The encounter puts Horus in danger, because in Egyptian tradition semen is a potent and dangerous substance, akin to poison. According to some texts, Set's semen enters Horus's body and makes him ill, but in "Contendings", Horus thwarts Set by catching Set's semen in his hands. Isis retaliates by putting Horus's semen on lettuce-leaves that Set eats. Set's defeat becomes apparent when this semen appears on his forehead as a golden disk. He has been impregnated with his rival's seed and as a result "gives birth" to the disk. In "Contendings", Thoth takes the disk and places it on his own head; in earlier accounts, it is Thoth who is produced by this anomalous birth.[33]
