i mean, if you think about it...black people didn't really have any opportunities to show that they were equal back then. He was just ignorant to the fact that at the end of the day, were all just humans with our own unique capabilities. Im sure he wouldnt have that same point of view today, back then black people were just slaves and today we got one as a president

He was extremely progressive when it came to racial issues. He had the balls to free the slaves and fight the confederacy.Not an excuse.....

You also have to think who their voters were, White land owning males so Lincoln may have had to pander to them (his comments on Blacks being inferior were from a speech) yet his actions showed that he at least had the compassion to fight for their freedom. I mean that was extremely radical that he did that, then he went and stomped all the slave owners out in the south.
